The Style Icons Of
The 60s
The fashion
today is largely determined by previous fashion and
style icons, past and present. In recent decades, many
women have been known as a style icon, and the trends of
today are still thanks to them! In this article the
style icons of the 60s: Twiggy, Jackie Kennedy, Brigitte
Bardot, Edie Sedgwick, Catherine Deneuve and Pattie
Boyd.
Twiggy
Top model and actress Twiggy, born Lesley Hornby, the
style icon of the sixties, and still has a major
influence on contemporary fashion, especially in recent
years. She had remarkably large, dark eyes made up, a
short, blond, boyish haircut and her nickname Twiggy was
rewarded for all her slender, almost boyish figure. Soon
she became the fashion icon and media dubs for 'The Face
of 66 ". Lesley dress was anything but boyish again, but
classic with a youthful twist. She wore a lot of A-line
mini dresses, dresses with square-cut or high-neck
jackets with high specific buttons and
Scandinavian-looking sweaters. Lesley dress and
hairstyle are certainly a great inspiration to the
fashion this season.
Jackie Kennedy
Jacqueline Lee Bouvier, known as the wife of John F.
Kennedy was also a great icon and trendsetter in her
day. Even after the death of John F. Kennedy did they
inspire women around the world, she married the Greek
businessman Aristotle Onassis, after which she was known
as Jackie O. Her style is classic and timeless. Keywords
for its style: suits, sleeveless dresses, pearl
necklaces, gloves, trenchcoatjurkjes, pastel and cream.

course), but always elegant and feminine. She wore the
best clothes of French brands such as Givenchy, Chanel

Brigitte Bardot
The French supermodel and actress Brigitte Bardot was
the sex symbol of France in the '60s, partly because of
her film roles as men devouring star. She had a striking
appearance by her voluptuous suikerspinkaspel, thick
pursed lips and sexy, dark drawn eyes. But even with
their feminine and elegant dress she was by women around
the world as style icon. Brigitte was getting married
when she wore a wedding dress with a small
white-checkered pink, what is today known as the
BB-square. Furthermore, they often wore a thick line of
eyeliner running up tip, large flap hats, big hair
bands, suits with a sexy look, and striped patterns. All
these things are still regularly seen in fashion.
Brigitte Bardot was nicknamed BB, which was not only her
initials, but also for bebe: baby.
Edie Segdwick
American model and actress Edie Sedgwick became
internationally known as the muse of artist Andy Warhol
and director, but was also a vintage-style icon for the
'60s. She had remarkably large eyes, an ultra slim
figure and short-cropped hair, which she was known as a
cult figure. Edie Sedgwick was a looser, eccentric style
than most feminine style icons, but was so extra and
still is her style by many celebs copied, remember: Gwen
Stefani, Sienna Miller and Kate Moss, who all have a
special style have. Characteristics of its style
oversized sweaters, tight pants, black and white
stripes, flat boots, trench coats, plaid, the
grandfather-cap and the beatnik look. Her full lips,
heavy eyebrows and short blond hair coupe did notice
when many men, making them a large network of artists
and pop stars around him. Many women still dream of it
to be like her.
Catherine Deneuve
French actress Catherine Deneuve is another classic
beauty. She received worldwide fame when she posed for a
Chanel perfume, and has developed into one of the
leading actresses in the French big screen. Her style

also innovative. Her skirts were always slightly

graphic prints. Catherine Deneuve was in many films and
was therefore play an international style icon in the
70s and 80s.
Pattie Boyd
Pattie Boyd was the English model, actress and singer,
and was married to the well-known musicians George
Harrison (former Beatle) and Eric Clapton. Thus alone is
it an icon. The Beatles song "Something" was written for
her and even Eric Clapton wrote "Layla" and "Wonderful
Tonight" for her. Besides, everyone loved her look,
especially her hair and makeup were iconic. She was
natural, but set her eyes for an extra large and sexy
glance, and she had a typical 60s style, which is half
long coupe with lots of volume at the back and a
straight fringe, sometimes two sides combed. Because so
many women wanted to emulate her look, Pattie began to
write articles with beauty tips. Patties dress was very
sixties: many long trench coats, A-line dresses and mini
dresses. Her dresses were usually white or pastel
colored, but her bags (she had a light bag fetish) had
bright colors like pink, blue and purple.
